We have recently installed the IQAir Dental air purifier in the office. This hyperHEPA filtration technology is proven to remove ultrafine particles, viruses, and bacteria from the air – all the way down to 0.003 microns in diameter – the smallest particles that exist.

In addition to the April installation of the IQAir HealthProPlus Dental air purifier, we have recently added the Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) Fogger to our cleaning protocol.

What is a ULV Fogger?

The ULV is a fine cold mist fogging machine that produces micro-droplets of disinfectant that float in the air for around 10 minutes after application. This fine mist ensures the disinfectant reaches the tiniest corners, cracks, and crevices that conventional cleaning may miss.

Safe on Eyes and Skin

Hypochlorous Acid, or HOCI, is a powerful antioxidant and disinfectant used in the fogger. HOCI is a naturally occurring chemical produced by our white blood cells, to fight bacteria and inflammation after an infection or trauma occurs. HOCI is one of the only agents that are both nontoxic to the delicate cells that can heal our wounds, while simultaneously killing airborne bacteria, viruses, and fungi that may threaten our health. HOCI is a non-irritant to most individuals including those with allergies. It can be used continuously throughout the workday, including in the presence of people and dental surfaces.

Imperial Dental Center has acquired a UVC handheld unit as well as a state-of-the-art standalone mobile UVC unit for sterilization of all surfaces and our operatories.

The mobile unit has an automatic motion shutoff, sterilizing rooms after patient appointments, and shutting itself off when someone enters the area.
It is a highly effective method for sterilization of surfaces and whole rooms.
Ultraviolet light is an effective tool that has been used for years in hospitals and operating rooms to sterilize surfaces.
Notably, UV light on the lower end of the spectrum, called UVC light works by breaking down certain chemical bonds and scrambling the structure of DNA, RNA and proteins, preventing a microorganism from multiplying.
UVC sterilization technology kills 99.9% of germs, bacteria, and viruses, and is recently being favored as one of the most effective ways to kill the COVID-19 virus.
